Former President Donald Trump recently took to Truth Social to criticize Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich, slamming her reporting style and claiming she’s better suited for CNN.
In his post, Trump expressed frustration with Heinrich’s recent coverage, particularly her questions about his tariff policies and White House activities.
“Jacqui Heinrich from Fox was absolutely terrible this weekend,” Trump wrote. “She should be working for CNN, not Fox News. No surprise she supports the White House Correspondents Association!”
Heinrich’s Reporting Sparks Trump’s Ire
Trump’s comments seem tied to Heinrich’s Sunday report, where she covered Tesla’s concerns about his tariff policies.
During the segment, she interviewed Senator Bernie Moreno and questioned the timing of Trump’s appearance at a Tesla display staged at the White House. Heinrich pointed out the event coincided with economic struggles for many Americans.
“Sir, there was basically a display at the White House there. He surveyed some cars,” Heinrich said. “This was happening at a time when Americans’ 401(k)s were taking a hit due to the ongoing tariff war.”
She then pressed Moreno further: “Was that an appropriate thing for the president to do? Was it sensitive to the economic challenges we’re facing—using the White House as a backdrop for buying a car?”
Trump’s criticism also followed Heinrich’s exchange with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
In that discussion, Heinrich referenced legal commentary from Fox News contributor Andy McCarthy about a major deportation case before Judge James Boasberg. Her pointed questions appeared to fuel Trump’s dissatisfaction with her reporting.
Brit Hume Defends Heinrich’s Fairness
Not everyone at Fox News shares Trump’s view. Veteran senior analyst Brit Hume quickly came to Heinrich’s defense, praising her balanced approach.
“I watched her too,” Hume said. “She plays it straight, covers both sides of a story, and has certainly been fair with you. You might have a case with some other White House reporters, but not with Heinrich.”
As Trump continues to call out coverage he deems unfair, his remarks about Heinrich highlight his sensitivity to reporting on his policies and public appearances.
