Although holding a spot in country music, Jelly Roll is quickly becoming a top name in the music industry. Not only is the singer gaining fame for his songs like “I Need a Favor”, but his honesty helped him connect with fans. Always willing to help those in need, Jelly Roll gained a reputation as being one of the sweetest people in all of music. With every singer and star wanting to get a hug from him, it appears that the rising star will return to American Idol. But instead of being a guest mentor, the singer will hold the title “Artist in Residence.”

Sharing the news in a promo video for the new season of American Idol, Jelly Roll quickly reconnects with host Ryan Seacrest when he lifts him up. Literally lifting Seacrest up, the two shared a hug before Jelly Roll broke the big news. “I’m American Idol’s artist in residence!” He added, “I feel like I’m giving them the energy they need. I’m uplifting and trying to get ’em going.”

As for Seacrest, he appeared to love the idea of Jelly Roll joining the American Idol team if the singer continued to give helicopter rides. “I like it. It feels good when you helicopter me. I need you every day.”

Jelly Roll Not The Only New Person Joining ‘American Idol’
With Jelly Roll holding a semi-permanent home on American Idol, he will join Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood. Although Katy Perry spent years on the show, the singer decided to step away to focus more on her own career. Needing to find a replacement, the producer moved quickly, narrowing the search down to just a few people. While certain names floated around the internet, the producers eventually revealed Underwood as the newest judge.

As fans shared their excitement over Underwood being the new judge on American Idol, fans also appeared to love Jelly Roll as comments read, “He just seems like a really good down to earth guy with a heart of gold. We all need someone like JellyRoll in our lives.” Another comment added, “Smart move for producers of American Idol! I wasn’t going to watch this season but now it will be hard to pass up. Love Jelly Roll!”

Don’t miss the new season of American Idol, premiering Sunday, March 9th on ABC.
