“It wasn’t anything close to ‘dating,’” Olivia told GQ in November. “I barely knew him.

But even though the two were only casually seeing each other after the former Saturday Night Live writer’s months-long stay in rehab for drug and alcohol addiction in 2021, John was beyond excited to coparent with the X-Men: Apocalypse actress.

“It wasn’t necessarily ‘We’re going to be married and live together’ or any of that,” she continued, “but it was ‘I will be involved in some way.’”

Ever since, the two have shared a sweet romance that brought them a beautiful wedding as well as two adorable little ones. And when the 42-year-old returned to Studio 8H to host Saturday Night Live in November, he couldn’t help but sneak a few jokes about his family into his opening monologue.

“My wife and I just welcomed a baby girl into our family,” John said in his speech. “We have a five-week-old daughter, and a 2-year-old son. My wife takes care of the 5-week-old, and I take the 2-year-old out. And that’s not fair.”

“That’s not an equal distribution of labor at all,” he joked. “Saying, ‘You have a 5-week-old, I’ll take a 2-year-old.’ That’s like saying, ‘I’ll transport this convict across state lines. You hold a potato.’”

And for Olivia, who has been open about her battle with breast cancer, she shared how Malcom, along with the rest of her family, has played a big role in lifting her up during her recovery.

“This moment was last summer when I had already had three surgeries and recovery—mentally and physically—was pretty rough,” the 44-year-old wrote on her Instagram Stories last April, alongside a video of her and Malcom playing in a kiddie pool. “The smallest, silliest moments like this lifted me up every single time. My Malcolm.”
