Tasha also agreed not to make additional “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory statements” about the rapper.
The years-long defamation lawsuit between Cardi B and gossip vlogger Tasha K will soon come to a close.
According to Billboard, four years after the Grammy winner won a defamation judgment of $4 million, she and Tasha K, born Latasha Kebe, have agreed to a payout of $1.2 million in installments over five years. Tasha K has previously claimed to be bankrupt, with the decision being issued under the Chapter 11 reorganization plan per judge approval. Cardi B sued Tasha in 2019, citing defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress after the media personality made salacious allegations about the rapper’s health and marriage to Offset.
Over 12 months, Kebe’s payouts will increase from $176,532 in the first year to $318,653 in the fifth and final, although Cardi still has the right to collect the outstanding amount, allowing her to garnish Tasha’s wages.
Additionally, Tasha has agreed not to make any “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” remarks about the “Enough (Miami)” rapper in her online coverage or on social media. Cardi, however, can make statements about Tasha.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Cardi’s lawyer, Lisa Moore, celebrated the conclusion of Tasha’s “lies, deception, and fraudulent conveyance.”
“We are thrilled to put in place such an incredibly unprecedented and protective plan for Cardi. I assume you will see the debtor and her swill counsel selling this as a win,” Moore continued. “Trust me, for all of the reasons in the plan we insisted on to protect our client, that is not the case. We don’t believe the false tears, and we protect against them.”
