George Clooney sends a message to Donald Trump during a TV interview
During his recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, actor George Clooney shared a surprising message directed at former President Donald Trump—without even mentioning his name.
Clooney reflected on his upbringing, revealing that he was raised a Democrat in Kentucky, before reminiscing about his first time voting in a presidential election. Clooney shared that he cast his ballot for Democratic incumbent Jimmy Carter in 1980.
As the conversation continued, Clooney never explicitly named Trump but took the opportunity to make a pointed joke at his expense.
When discussing how the Democrat party lost the election last year, Clooney jibed: “Well I don’t know, what am I supposed to do? Storm the f***ing Capitol?” The comment was a pointed comment referring to the January 2021 riots.
George Clooney Sends a Clear Message to Trump on Late Show
During his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, George Clooney made a pointed remark seemingly directed at Donald Trump. Without mentioning his name, Clooney said:
“Good for you. I hope you do well because our country needs it, and we will meet you in 3.5 years and see where we go next.”
Clooney also addressed his disappointment over last year’s Republican victory but accepted it as part of democracy. “There are people who agree and disagree, and most of us still like each other. We’re all gonna get through it,” he said.
He compared it to his son’s chess tournaments, where he teaches him to handle losses with grace: “Shake the guy’s hand, say good game, and get him next time.”
Last year, Clooney called for Joe Biden to exit the race in a New York Times op-ed, praising his character but arguing he couldn’t win the “battle against time.” His latest remarks reinforce his stance on moving the party forward.
Clooney, known for his outspoken views, has never shied away from discussing politics, and his latest comments continue that trend.
His appearance on The Late Show once again proved that he knows how to blend humor with sharp political observations.
