The actor spoke at the press conference before the Goya Awards sending a warning to the American people
Richard Gere, one of the biggest Hollywood names, has moved from the US and now is residing in Madrid, Spain.
This weekend, he is in Granada for the prestigious Goya Cinema Awards. Gere is not only nominated for an award but will also be honored with the International Goya, a distinguished recognition celebrating his remarkable career.
Ahead of receiving Spain’s highest accolade for cinematic artists, the acclaimed actor participated in a press conference for the event. His statements quickly garnered attention, particularly those addressing former U.S. President Donald Trump.
His remarks became a major talking point, adding another layer of intrigue to an already highly anticipated evening.

What did Gere say
Richard Gere did not hold back when addressing global concerns, stating, “The whole world is in danger” as he reflected on the series of “dark moves after dark moves that are taking place.”
His criticism was not limited to former U.S. President Donald Trump but extended to those in his inner circle, including tech mogul Elon Musk. “The billionaire clowns surrounding Trump are immature and narcissistic, a deadly mix,” he remarked.
While acknowledging the democratic process through which the president was elected, Gere expressed deep concern over the state of his home country, declaring, “America is living in a dark time” and calling on people to “stand up.”
Speaking from Madrid, where he currently resides, Gere reiterated that the electoral process was democratic but admitted he remains deeply troubled by the current state of the United States. “My country is going through a deeply disturbing moment,” he said, adding that both he and his wife are still in shock over recent events.
Many Americans do not agree with Richard
While Richard Gere has been vocal in his criticism of former President Donald Trump, labeling him a “bully” and a “thug,” it’s important to recognize that public opinion in the United States is deeply divided.
A Pew Research Center survey found that 53% of Americans approve of Trump’s agenda for his second term, with 88% of Republicans expressing approval according to nypost.com.
This data underscores the nation’s polarized views, with many Americans supporting Trump’s policies and disagreeing with Gere’s assessments.
