Even Joe Biden ‘lost his temper’ with President Zelenskyy in June 2022 phone call, an old report shows

In the months following the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine, then-President Joe Biden had a heated phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to a resurfaced 2022 NBC News report, Biden allegedly lost his temper during the exchange, urging Ukraine to express more gratitude for the extensive support the United States had been providing.

The call, which took place in June 2022, reportedly became tense shortly after Biden informed Zelenskyy that the U.S. had just approved an additional $1 billion in military aid for Ukraine.

Rather than acknowledging the latest assistance, Zelenskyy immediately began listing additional military and financial support that he believed Ukraine still needed but had not yet received.

This response, according to sources familiar with the call, led Biden to raise his voice, emphasizing that the American people had been exceptionally generous and that his administration and the U.S. military were working tirelessly to assist Ukraine.

Frustrated, Biden reportedly urged Zelenskyy to show more appreciation for the aid already provided.

At the time of the call, just a few months had passed since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Despite the reported tension during the conversation, Biden administration officials later stated that the relationship between the two leaders improved in the aftermath of the exchange.

The report resurfaced over the weekend following a heated meeting between President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The meeting, which had been focused on U.S.-Ukraine relations, became particularly tense in its final ten minutes. The exchange added another layer of strain to the already complex relationship between the leaders.
