Vince Gill appeared at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival at Madison Square Garden in April 2013 and gave us an unforgettable weekend of performances. On the first night, he joined forces with Clapton and Andy Fairweather-Low, adding his signature touch to classics like Lay Down Sally and Wonderful Tonight.
The following evening, Gill teamed up with guitar legends Albert Lee and Keith Urban for a powerhouse set featuring Ain’t Living Long Like This, Leave My Woman Alone, Tumbling Dice, and Set Me Up. With a lineup of world-class musicians, the festival was a true celebration of guitar mastery.
The song “I Ain’t Living Long Like This” was originally written by Rodney Crowell and has been covered by various artists over the years. Gill and Lee’s rendition at the festival showcased their exceptional guitar skills and chemistry on stage.
Vince Gill, Keith Urban, and Albert Lee delivered a remarkable rendition of “Tumbling Dice,” originally by The Rolling Stones. Keith Urban took the lead vocals, while Gill and Lee provided instrumental and vocal support, creating a memorable performance that blended their unique styles. For a visual experience of this collaboration, you can watch the performance here:
The Crossroads Guitar Festival isn’t just a celebration of incredible musicianship—it’s also a powerful force for good. Proceeds from the two-day event support the Crossroads Centre, a rehabilitation facility in Antigua founded by Clapton to help those struggling with addiction.
Every guitarist featured in the lineup is personally selected by Clapton, making it a hand-curated showcase of top-tier talent. Vince Gill has been a consistent presence at the festival, having performed at every edition since its launch in 2004.
