To say Kelsea Ballerini is upset with Michael Bublé is an understatement. The country music superstar wanted a Michigan man for her team on “The Voice,” but Bublé wanted him even more.

28-year old Braxton Garza, from Adrian, is a co-parent to two young kids, Lyra and Russell. Garza lost his father in 2020 after he says he contracted COVID.

“The doctor told all of us my dad had less than a week to be here with us,” Garza said on the show. “One of the last things he told me was he didn’t want to be remembered by anything but how he loved. He was the most loving person I ever met.”

Garza performed “Pretty Little Poison” by Warren Zeiders for his Blind Audition on the hit NBC singing competition on Monday, February 10.

Ballerini clearly wanted him for her team, but before she could turn her chair, Bublé turned his and used his block on her, securing Garza for his team.

“I’m so excited,” Bublé exclaimed after the performance. “I’m so mad at you,” Ballerini replied.

“You’re so good. I hear you as country, but I also hear you in that pocket of music right now that’s thriving, like the Zach Bryans and Noah Kahans,” Ballerini said. “You have one foot in country, but it’s bigger than that. I feel like your voice is so special.Garza now moves on to the next round, the Battle Round, which will air after the Blind Audition Round ends. No date has been announced for that yet.

And Garza isn’t the only Michigander on this season of “The Voice.”

19-year old Iris Herrera, from Newaygo, landed on Kelsea Ballerini‘s team last week on the season 27 premiere.
